What is an in vitro diagnostic nucleic acid test?

In vitro diagnosis refers to products and services that obtain clinical diagnostic information by testing human samples (blood, body fluids, tissues, etc.) outside the human body, and then judging diseases or body functions.

One of the key steps in the detection of human samples is the purification of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) in the samples. Why is nucleic acid extraction necessary?

Nucleic acid extraction provides answers to a wide range of studies and applications (eg cloning, qRT-PCR and next-generation sequencing technologies in the whole genome, transcriptome category), and the nucleic acid obtained can be used in a variety of ways.

The exact research purpose determines the type of nucleic acid to be extracted; the application of nucleic acid often affects the choice of extraction method. (Example: standard End-point PCR reactions that do not require the same DNA quality as whole genome sequencing experiments)

In order to determine the best research method, it is necessary to have a clear understanding of the downstream application of nucleic acids and any potential limitations associated with the sample type. (For example, clinical sample collection is often limited and nucleic acid extraction is challenging.)

Although cell lysis methods vary by sample type, the overall core principle of nucleic acid extraction remains the same: cell or tissue sample lysis to remove non-nucleic acid contaminants (eg, proteins, etc.).
